ズアカアオバトを出したら、ズが赤くないのはどんななのか、という質問を受けたのだが、あいにくアオバト類のよい写真が在庫になく、キンバトでお茶を濁すことにする。

日本では南方、南西諸島にのみ分布するがこの亜種は全然ズがアカくない、一方台湾の亜種はズアカではあるが、やはり台湾の南端部にわづかに残るのみ、フィリピンにも分布するが、全体としては純絶滅危惧種、ただ観察そのものは日本の方が容易、というわかったような分からないような分布の鳥で、個人的には少々謎の鳥だった。
