本音を言えばカワセミは好きな方の鳥なのだが、根が天の邪鬼なだけに、カワセミが好きと言うのは憚られる。別に博愛主義者である必要などどこにもないが、スズメだのヒヨドリだのには全く興味を示さない人がカワセミと聞くと急に目を輝かせたり、近所の公園で、望遠レンズの集中砲火を浴びて居たたまれない様子のカワセミを見ると、鼻白む思いがする。
