キヅタアメリカムシクイ - Myrtle Warbler - Setophaga coronata

白黒の模様のあちこちに鮮やかな黄色い羽を隠していて、なかなかに目立つ。アメリカの西側と東側の亜種が種に昇格する前は、あるいは分割前の呼称を採用する場合は、Yellow-rumped Warbler 黄色い腰の Warbler という名前だった割には、腰の黄色は目立たなくて、一番目立つのは胸の両側の羽だ。

和名がどういう経緯でキヅタになったのかは浅学にして知らないが、Myrtle ギンバイカとキヅタは関係のない植物だな。

↓だいたい、この胸の両側の黄色を見て、あ、あれか！と気付くことが多かった。
